The question, as to the existence of Jesus has for the vast majority of people, Christian and non-Christian, scholars and lay people, been and continues to be an irrefutably fact of history, he indeed Lived! Yet the atheist movement, seeking any and every avenue to dismiss God, has grabbed hold of this concept as they promote their agenda.
This sect of atheism, which has come to be known as "Mythicist", offer seemingly plausible arguments, that support their viewpoint, yet, these arguments simply do not stand up to scrutiny and have been dismissed by nearly all credible authorities and scholars of history.
One of the primary goals of this site it to gather and index evidence that will help a seeker discover truth, which is, that there is of course a God and that they (you) have been perfectly crafted and our loved by this very creator. We did not come from nothing, only nothing can come from nothing, yet ... this belief still grows.
This debate, which is more than two hours long and which I do not find to be that useful as they are both non-Christians arguing over the existence of Jesus, does exemplify the arguments that are now being brought forward.
Truly, if you wish to argue that Jesus did not exist at all, you are taking a position that is so counterfactual in history, that you will find it difficult to find any rational support beyond this Mythicist movement, often cited to be equivalent or analogous to denying the moon landing or the holocaust. Even Wikipedia, begins their review with these words:
"Virtually all scholars who have investigated the history of the Christian movement find that the historicity of Jesus is effectively certain and standard historical criteria have aided in reconstructing his life. However, scholars differ on the beliefs and teachings of Jesus as well as the accuracy of the details of his life that have been described in the gospels. Despite this, very few scholars have argued for non-historicity and have not succeeded due to abundance of evidence to the contrary."
Not many people will argue that Wikipedia has a Christian bias, nor do many argue that it would have any reason to state this if the evidence did not compel them to do so. In their document they give 100 references and notes. The evidence for Jesus living and walking the earth is simply overwhelming.
If choose to dismiss all writings, biblical and secular as circular, forged, non-contemporary, not substantiated, not verifiable or simply not existing at all, you could easily disprove or at least cast significant doubt as to the historicity of ANY person that lived during this era and therefore, your applied methods will of course support any viewpoint you wish to promote. But … therein lies the dilemma, you have the full choice to accept any evidence or refute it, no matter how strong it is and how un-refuted it continues to be by established historical review.
I will leave you with this. If nothing else, hundreds of people, common people, were put to death, simply because they believed that Jesus lived, died and was resurrected.
They went to their deaths for this, without recanting. Would you die for a fictional someone that you yourself thought to be a hoax? Would you die for a lie? Ask yourself, honestly this central question, there is no difference today than there was 2000 years ago, we all cherish life, we want to live and if we are not believers in an eternal life, then this just adds to the magnitude of the decision, which is essentially this. If Jesus never existed, then they knew there was no hope in the heaven he proclaimed, in the God he spoke of, so death was just death … that’s it, end of story, nothing more, no glory, no afterlife just nothing. Why would you die for this? Ask yourself as an atheist, agnostic or seeker straddling the fences, would you die, right now, today for this fictional Jesus? The one you do not actually believe in!

JESUS WAS DEAD: Did Jesus die on the cross? Was he dead? Virtually every scholar on planet Earth concedes that Jesus was dead after crucifixion. We have no record of anyone, anywhere, ever surviving a full Roman crucifixion. Even the Journal of the American Medical Association publish a peer reviewed reviewed scientific medical study of the evidence for the death of Jesus and said, “Clearly the weight of the evidence indicates that Jesus was dead even before the wound was inflicted.” Even the atheist New Testament scholar Gerd Lüdeman says, “Historically it’s indisputable that Jesus was dead.” So, Jesus was dead.
Question: "Did Jesus really exist? Is there any historical evidence of Jesus Christ?"
Answer: Typically, when this question is asked, the person asking qualifies the question with “outside of the Bible.” ... click to read more.
While billions of people believe Jesus of Nazareth was one of the most important figures in world history, many others reject the idea that he even existed at all. A 2015 survey conducted by the Church of England, for instance, found that 22 percent of adults in England did not believe Jesus was a real person.
